French Abstract: Cette contribution au Colloque organisé par la CJUE à l'occasion du 50e anniversaire de l'arrêt van Gend en Loos examine les réactions à la décision des institutions communautaires et nationales ainsi que de la doctrine au moment de sa publication et dans les années suivantes. Le texte montre comment la discussion a immédiatement porté sur la nouveauté de la référence de la COur à l'ordre juridique communautaire comme nouvel ordre juridique international. Il montre également que les réactions négatives ou critiques se sont seulement développées à partir de la fin des années 1960.

English Abstract: This contribution to the Conference organised by the CJEU in occasion of the 50th anniversary of the van Gend en Loos Ruling examines the reactions to the ruling from EC and national institutions and from Academia at the moment of its publication and in the few following years. It shows how discussion immediately focused on the novelty of the Court referring to the Community legal order as a new international legal order. It also shows that negative or critica reactions happened only from the end of the 1960s forward.
