Abstract

In this year-end review, we review 10 decisions: Canadian Owners and Pilots Assn., Lacombe, Reference re Assisted Human Reproduction Act, Globe and Mail v. Canada, Canadian Broadcasting Corp. v.Canada, Canadian Broadcasting Corp. v. Canada, Ontario (Attorney General) v. Fraser, R. v. Ahmad, Withler v. Canada and Alberta (Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development) v. Cunningham. The decisions include a number of important and high-profile rulings concerning, among other things, the scope of the criminal law power, freedom of the press, the constitutional standing of collective bargaining, the right to a fair trial in terrorism prosecutions and the right to equality.
