Abstract
In this paper, an overview of the constitutional protection of privacy and the “right to informational self-determination” (Direito a autodeterminacao Informativa) in Brazil. Spying (the active of secretly observing and gathering information) has been with us since ancient times. It is part of human nature since ancient Egypt. Risks posed to privacy and intimacy from the progress of information technology and its omnipresence in practically all aspects of modern life.
