Past and Ongoing researches in crime prevention all over the world involved policing as fundamental machinery. The future of criminology demands a proactive approach by police where by the crimes are averted beforehand for damage control in society. With the advent of technology ‘Comp stat policing’ and ‘predictive policing’, for past 16 years in United States by ‘crime mapping’ have shown potential in dealing with crimes and consequently been adopted by other developing nations. In India, policing is facing a globalized challenge of accepting innovative policing in resource mobilization according to crime pattern and dealing with contemporary crimes. This paper brings in the Indian police transformation in past few decades and the extent of feasibility of Innovative policing in India by introducing ‘Predictive policing’ in localized territories.
