Abstract

This article deals with the business prospects of the biotechnology industry and portrays it as ‘global sunrise’ industry. The biotech industry classification and the recent trends are outlined in the first part. The structure and the pattern of the industry in different countries have also been analysed. The case of bio-agricultural exports and imports in the world is given as a tool for understanding the importance of global business opportunities in the biotech industry.
