Abstract

In this chapter introducing a book developed for companies operating in the EU, Professor Stipanowich summarizes many of the potential benefits of mediation for businesses, including continuing control by parties over dispute resolution process and product; customization of the dispute resolution process; confidentiality; enhancement of communications; a cross-cultural bridge; consideration of commercial realities; cost savings and cycle time reduction; creative and durable solutions; enhancement of relationships; and reduced risk. He also addresses frequently asked questions about mediation.
