Abstract

Turkish Abstract: Enerji tüketimi ve ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi geçmişten günümüze gerek teorik gerekse uygulama yönünden önemli tartışma konularından birisidir. Günlük hayatımızda vazgeçilmez bir yere sahip olan enerji tüketimi, her geçen gün daha önemli hale gelmektedir. Enerji ihtiyacının artma yönümlü olmasına karşın bazı enerji kaynaklarının tükenebilir oluşu, ayrıca birçok ülke için dışa bağımlılığın sözkonusu olması, üretimde çevresel veya ekolojik tesirlerin varlığı enerji konusunu daha önemli ve hassas konuma taşımaktadır.Bu çalışmada enerji kullanımı ile ekonomik büyüme ilişkileri ile ilgili çeşitli ülke grubu ve tek bir ülke çalışmaları incelenmiş ve bu ilişkinin yönü genelleştirilmiş ve değerlendirilmiştir.

English Abstract: Energy consumption - economic growth nexus is one of the hot research topics over the last four decades. Energy consumption becomes an indispensable part of daily life as socio-economic environment of the world nations advances. Moreover, some points such as main energy sources are not renewable, many countries are dependent from import of energy resources, as well as environmental and ecological issues makes energy consumption much more important and sensitive topic. In this paper, we briefly review the empirical studies on the energy consumption economic growth relationship in the case of both single country and group of countries, as well as present main four hypotheses of this relationship and their policy implications.
