Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief introduction to the sources of international law. It analyses treaty, custom and general principles of law and the subsidiary sources of judicial decisions and the opinions of the most highly qualified publicists. Additionally, it addresses the question whether the list of sources in the Statute of the International Court of Justice is exhaustive and finishes by considering potential hierarchies between sources.
