Abstract

English Abstract: The "Shiite crescent" name appeared in 2004 on the occasion of a statement by King Abdullah of Jordan. His first formulation implies a definition meaning a geopolitical risk in the Middle East. According to King, the "Shiite crescent" would be a way to change the balance of power, particularly in the Middle East, Iran's favor and, therefore, to the detriment of other political regimes in the region, for most attached to Sunnism. Question this analysis first requires to specify the conditions of "geopolitics" of the term birth. If it exists in speeches by political leaders and by reason of his employment in the media, then it is important to measure, study the facts, the true dimension. This justifies a precise, including quantitative approach, which requires a broader geographical approach. Finally, it should reflect the teachings of the geopolitical analysis of the populations concerned.
