Abstract

As a part of Touro Law Center's annual symposium "The Supreme Court and State and Local Government Law," Judge Lazer discusses three cases from the Supreme Court's 1996-1997 term: Metro-North Commuter R.R. Co. v. Buckley, which involved emotional distress in a negligence case; Saratoga Fishing Co. v. Martinac & Co., which involved design defect in a products liability case; and Suitum v. Tahoe Reg'l Planning Agency, which dealt with the question of land use and regulatory takings. Judge Lazer also briefly discusses two class action cases: Adams v. Robertson and Amchen Products v. Windsor.
