Abstract
The U.S. Coast Guard amended the Inland Navigation Rules effective August 1, 2014. This article provides a summary of those amendments and includes a copy of the final rules. Importantly, the Coast Guard has determined that these Inland Rules promulgated by the Coast Guard preempt state and local governments from enacting rules in the field of inland marine navigation and collision avoidance.
