Abstract

A recent study suggests that patent litigation by Patent Assertion Entities causes reduced Venture Capital investments in entrepreneurial firms. This article reviews the methods used in that study and explains some of the fundamental flaws, including the reliance on grossly incorrect assumptions. It is shown that the study’s inferences and conclusions are therefore highly questionable.
