Abstract

With the transition from the information society to the knowledge society, knowledge has increasingly become a success factor for business development. In the current very competitive business environment, employees are required have high performances, although they can no longer rely on traditional training sessions to acquire the skills they need to succeed. Given that today's students are tomorrow's employees, teachers and employing companies are trying to find ways to teach them how to think practically. Since the best way to learn something is by doing it, business simulation applications prove their usefulness day by day. Thus, the present study aims to analyze the perceptions of a group of students participating in an internship in a simulated enterprise network based on the TOPSIM - General Management II software. The data analysis shows that simulation activities are an effective way of learning compared to traditional methods. Furthermore, participants have improved their economic knowledge, have developed managerial abilities and became familiar with the challenges of the real business environment.
