Abstract

Co-authored with Juan Perea, Racial Templates shows how racist patterns of thought and action embed themselves in culture and consciousness, making it easier and more natural-seeming for a society to act in similar fashion later. Using a recent book on the War with Mexico as a springboard, we show how this happens.
