Abstract
Natural landscaping, the use of native plans in urban and suburban landscapes, has frequently run afoul of local laws designed to prohibit "weeds." In this article, the authors set forth the history of such laws, and offer suggestions on how those engaging in natural landscaping can avoid prosecution, and how cities and towns should change such laws to permit and encourage these beneficial landscapes.
