By 2050, India is to be expected to be the most populated country in the world and with the increasing energy need per capita total demand for energy is going to increase substantially. India needs to find out ways to ensure environment and energy sustainability without compromising its growth. We are looking for solutions of all our problems in the developmental model of western countries. When our problems are different how can we have same kind of solutions? Present paper tries to find out local solutions to our local problems. As we need to explore local technology to generate environmentally sustainable energy to fulfill our growing needs. We need to improve the technology for generating less CO2 emission with decreasing our dependence on fossil fuel. By changing the power generation mix and improving upon the daily life technology it is possible for India to accomplish the mission of environment and energy sustainability.
