Abstract

The paper is concerned with the problem of the rapid motion of a heavy rigid body with a triaxial ellipsoid of inertia around a stationary point in a medium characterized by quadratic resistance with respect to angular velocity. A non-Eulerian solution in elementary function of time is used for the unperturbed motion in the equations of motion, which simplifies the determination of quadratures in the averaging procedure.
