Abstract
The overall objective of this project is to assess the current position of the Northern Ireland political parties, and the position of the British and Irish governments, on a Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland. In doing so, the project seeks to progress the Northern Ireland Bill of Rights process. The project aims to find a safe space in which to engage the political parties on the Bill of Rights and to identify a way forward. In this context the final report sets out a series of recommendations on how the British and Irish governments could meaningfully re-engage the parties and proposed possible ways forward. The project also seeks to contribute to the development of a broader understanding of the importance of human rights standards and principles in the political context of Northern Ireland.
