Abstract

The Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) has recently issues its Final Report relating to digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB), finding that Australia should not open extra capacity made available by digital technology up to competitive qualitative bidding. Therefore, Australia is likely to reject the bidding policies adopted in the United Kingdom, and instead grant the DTTB spectrum to terrestrial broadcasters already operating in Australia. This approach is similar to that adopted in the United States.
