In the think global, act local economy, the new buzz word becomes complicated as glocal (global + local) with new knowledge infrastructure, and new economy@competence. Integrating over manufacturing knowledge, with quality for sustenance, organizations (or nations) cannot help but face a competition at global scales with due cognizance to glocal customers. Their satisfaction marks the interface for a continued research and innovation. While processing the need of manufacturing competence between parallelism of R&D versus innovation, this part (of series) charts the agenda with a 5 step road map, stipulated for graduation to world class and world markets, and meeting expectations. I use typically UK’s and Indian scenarios for advising better analysis of strategy. It is argued as to how a local research for manufacturing knowledge infrastructure be pursued for glocal manufacturing strategy, for which suitable research strategy be planned in ‘Alignment’ with likes of ‘Make in India’ initiatives. A positive industry/government vision is likely to facilitate the impulse for global manufacturing. There is thus a need to match such impetus for world class manufacture, and a road map to strengthen the forces @ glocal strategy.
Keywords: ‘Make in India’, Strategy Innovation versus R&D, Manufacturing Competence strategy.
