Abstract

One of the most important competency of teachers is their ability to conduct proper assessment of student learning. This is even espoused by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), National Council on Measurement and Evaluation (NCME), and National Education Association (NEA) in the United States. In the Philippines, the Department of Education (DepEd) has developed the National Competency Based Teaching Standards. Part of this standard is the fifth domain on “Planning, Assessing, and Reporting.” This competency refers to the alignment of assessment and planning activities. The dimension focuses on the use of assessment data to plan and revise teaching-learning plans; integration of assessment procedures in the plan and implementation of teaching-learning activities, and reporting of the learners’ actual achievement and behavior.
