Abstract

Culture is an oft quoted word in understanding behaviour, and is well researched in the international arena. It is generally misunderstood in the managerial context and requires some clarification of the different terms widely used. This paper is a practitioner’s perspective of the academic research published in the area, and demystifies the various concepts discussed widely. Definitions of the concepts of culture, its various dimensions, impact on organisation and the scope for measuring culture, etc. are discussed.

Keywords: Culture, sub culture, determinants of culture, organisational culture, relationship
