Abstract

On August 12-14, 2015, the Chisum Patent Academy held a small-group roundtable seminar in Seattle, Washington to discuss and debate current developments in U.S. patent law. This paper provides our summary analyses of the six patent law topic areas covered during the seminar: (1) 2015 blockbuster Supreme Court and Federal Circuit decisions; (2) patent claim interpretation and definiteness; (3) patent eligibility post-Alice; (4) Inter Partes Review at the USPTO and use of the Broadest Reasonable Interpretation rule; (5) method and system claims and active inducement; and (6) the patent exhaustion defense.
