Abstract

The Internet and technology power a new breed of entrepreneurs: small, yet truly international businesses with the potential of forming the backbone of a prospering EU economy and society. These entrepreneurs thrive much thanks to the innovation that takes place throughout the digital economy ecosystem. Supporting these entrepreneurs - and thereby growth and job creation in Europe - is therefore intrinsically linked to promoting the digital economy. This is something that will require reform of the EU regulatory approach.
