Abstract

Manufacturing has indeed evolved as a critical ‘Production Technology & Management’ science, internationally, and especially for us in India where it needs be reengineered in terms of the threats of technology, volumes, quality, and capacity. It is critical because with reference to the components of industrial production, it has already taken a beating over the years. This lack of capatence (capacity competence) has eclipsed the maturation, and as such for a vocation too it has been relegated w.r.t. Service industry.

Together, if the articles succeed in setting up a stage for enhancement of awareness around the specific issues discussed in this esteemed journal, and the production technology and research in general, the objectives would be deemed to have served. Both change and real(ization) education are a slow phenomenon, and a worthwhile effort through this publication, albeit as a drop in ocean, will continue to be attempted to change the colors of manufacturing.
