Abstract

This index and research guide for Korean law resources attempts to help American legal scholars, law students, legal practitioners, and law librarians to conduct research on the law of the Republic of Korea ("South Korea") in English. The guide explains Korean legal system, types of law, and state practice in international law and introduces a wide variety of research tools such as bibliographies, indexes, research guides, and online databases. In order to help Korean law researchers determine how useful or important a research resource/tool is for its specific research purpose, the guide also provides a brief annotation for indexes and bibliographies, research guides, and databases. The last chapter of the guide includes "Korean Law Books Index," a bibliography related to Korean law under the title, “Treatises,” where I selectively compiled more than 300 books and doctoral dissertations about Korean law written and translated in English (1945-) that researchers can get in the United States either through their own library or through interlibrary loan request.

Note: This research guide is an update from the original version published in Globalex on May 14, 2010.
