Abstract

In today’s business world where everyone has their own views and would like to take actions based on their views, a lot of conversations end up getting difficult to have, especially when they are postponed than confronted upfront. We hem and haw and struggle to find the right words to be assertive, ensuring all the while that what we say does not trigger a negative reaction from the other person. This paper not only explores the various kinds of situations in which such difficult conversations occur but also provides an insight into some of the reasons why these conversations are a struggle. The paper also presents some of the tips and techniques that one can use so as to diffuse or even avoid the struggle in such conversations. Also highlighted at the end of the paper are more than five different processes that one can use in various situations to effectively manage difficult conversations.
