Response-Related Behavior of Selected Students Toward Common Illnesses in Commonwealth, Quezon City

Reflux (GERD), dysmenorrhea, cold and flu, migraine, cough, allergies, and stomach flu/stomach ache are the most common illness of college students in Commonwealth, Quezon City. Since the immune system of each person reacts differently from every pathogens causing illnesses, convenient sampling was used to obtain 100 respondents during the survey.
Respondents occasionally self medicate with a mean of 2.20 and sought advice from friends, family members and the internet to remedy their illnesses with a mean of 2.25 rather than to seek advice from doctors/physicians with a mean of 1.85. Despite of the illness, college students disregard their illness and choose to continue their work/activities. Fifty seven percent (57%) of the college students go to school with the reason of 'attendance is a must.'
