Abstract
This article aims to map development of mediation in Ukraine from 1991 to 2016 in all areas, through analysis of two competing mediation movements in this country – donor-lead and grass-root movements. Against the backdrop of underdeveloped market for mediation services and the absence of legal regulation of mediation, the article highlights the areas of competition and disagreement between the movements. It also analyses the progress achieved jointly by two movements in popularizing the idea of mediation among professional communities, legal and political elite and establishing a market for mediation training.
