Abstract
This contribution to a Festschrift in honor of Joseph W. McKnight explores the history and legacy of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s 1902 Philadelphia Ball Club v. Lajoie decision, and other courts’ related decisions, concerning baseball players’ contract jumping from the National League to the newly created American League.
