Abstract

In many countries Governments put a lot of effort to enhance sustainable behavior in the economic world. This paper gives an overview of different measures used by German governmental bodies to strengthen the idea of sustainability and to change attitudes within the company world. In order to cluster governmental subsidies as sustainability measures different criteria have been used. Subsidies classified as sustainable have been described and compared. Goal of this research is to focus on the effectiveness of subsidy measures. Since a quantitative evaluation is almost impossible we concentrate hereby on classical questions such as type of measure, target groups and amount. In addition we measure qualitative aspects such as controlling aspects and long-term aspects of the measures.

Keywords: governmental subsidies, sustainability, success measures
