Abstract

The Web is changing almost everything. An important effect of these techno-social transformations is that educational systems find difficult to adjust on the demand for new digital skills. The present paper introduces Web Intelligence (WI) as a set of competencies needed to take advantage of all the possibilities the Web has to offer, while staying protected from potential risks. WI is validated in the context of Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences fulfilling all the eight criteria. Although, cognitive studies are yet in their infancy and together with psychometric studies should transcend from Internet-Related Problems and experiment on the multidimensional nature of Web usage as defined in WI. The conceptualization of WI provides rich insights and research proposals as a common framework for enriching educational content based on trans-disciplinary approaches of the online environments.
