The purpose of this note is to deal with some of the difficulties experienced in translating European legal concepts into Tokelauan. The topic is dealt with, by Anthony Angelo and Hosea Kirifi, in the context of the Treaty of Tokehega, the first official legal document written in Tokelauan.
