Abstract

This study evaluates the performance of Douala stock exchange market from 2006 to 2015. The 10 years study period permitted us to use a one factor index model (regression technique). The result showed that the Douala stock exchange market began to contribute positively to the economic growth of Cameroon after the introduction of the government Treasury bond in 2010. We acknowledged that the government of Cameroon should take bond issuing an ongoing process in order to achieve her operation 2035 dreams. In addition to this, both government and management authority of the Douala stock exchange market should enhance strategies to increase the number of listed companies. We believe that if these strategies are put in place and are successful, Douala stock exchange market performance will further improve over time. Yearly average exchange rate were used to convert data that were collected from sources in different currency to a single unit (USA dollar). This eliminated the main limitation of the study.
