Abstract
This article is crafted as a compendium of scholarly contributions debating the main challenges facing one of Africa’s largest economies – South Africa – cutting across a range of sectors from electricity generation and public sector performance, to the private sector management on the gold-mining sector. The study draws upon recent policy documents including the 2016 Doing Business Report and the 2013 World Bank Enterprise Survey data to highlight areas of policy and/or managerial attention for sub-Saharan Africa's second largest economy.
