Abstract

Now days the terrorism is taking a new shape. Few years back, madrasa (educational institution) and other interpersonal network was the main source of recruiting militants. Militants’ organizations used madrasas for recruiting members. Along with the madrasas militant related books, sermons were the medium for attracting new comers. Now, the militant organizations like Islamic States is using different Social Networking Sites (SNSs) for their recruitment and taking part in so called jihad in Syria and elsewhere. However, outside the Syria and Middle East like Bangladesh terrorism is not very visible and has a different outlook. In Bangladesh different militant groups are working. And among them Ansar Bangla Team (a militant group) has taken the attention by murdering bloggers and confessing it on the cyber sphere The light was given to the team after the murder of blogger Avijit Roy in February, 2014. It is reported in different mass media that the group was behind the murder of four other bloggers in Bangladesh. It is interesting to mention here, after the murder of every blogger, the group confessed it on their Twitter account. Twitter authority has blocked nine of its account. Ansar Bangla Team uses Twitter for disseminating their ideology and threatening secular thinkers in Bangladesh. The article sheds the light into the content of the group-Ansar Bangla Team. The researcher analyzed the text and pictures of the account. The research is based on content analysis method. The research will be an advantage for further research in exploring the link between terrorism and social networking in Bangladesh.
