Abstract

In analogy with the wandering vector model, a probabilistic multidimensional unfolding model is proposed for representing paired comparisons data. It is shown that contrary to other stochastic multidimensional unfolding models, the present model does not imply strong stochastic transitivity, only moderate stochastic transitivity. A maximum likelihood parameter estimation procedure is developed and an illustrative application is presented.
