Abstract

This article analyses the request to the European Court of Justice for a preliminary ruling made by the Italian Supreme Court (Corte Suprema di Cassazione) in the Manni case, which concerns data protection and the processing of personal information provided by the Italian Commercial Register.

In the next few months, according to this referral, the European Court of Justice should clarify whether the rationale of the so-called right to be forgotten can be also applied to the information available in public registers.
