Abstract

As with so much of the sociological literature on the public police, the bulk of the research on police deviance has been undertaken in the United States of America. American scholars have focused their attention almost exclusively on police corruption, so that although there is a considerable literature on this one aspect of police deviance, there is practically no general literature on this subject. This book begins to redress this imbalance by focusing attention on another aspect of police deviance, namely, organisational deviance.
