The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of leadership and management using a S.I.M.P.L.E. (S. (Synergy) I. (Influence) M. (Motivate) P. (Proactive) L. (Learner) E. (Engaged) approach and three dimensions of leadership style and techniques leaders and managers use. The paper takes a simple approach to leadership, depicting the three main leadership styles leaders and managers use in the workplace — transactional, transformational, and laissez-faire. There are many other styles, but research on these is reserved for future research. This article distinguishes between leaders and managers and leads one to a leadership trait matrix, taking the reader to identify him or herself as a certain type of leader or manager and providing a mechanism to determine if one is more like a leader or manager and why.
