Abstract

This study was undertaken with the view to determining the impact of bank reforms on the performance of banks in Nigeria. It was designed essentially as a descriptive survey. Data were sourced from CBN, Abuja and NBS, Abuja. Data were analyzed using coefficient of variation. Results indicate that: (1) Total assets were more volatile under de-control regime than it was in control regime. (2) Financial deepening was more variable under de-control regime than it was under control and consolidation regimes. (3) There was a significant difference between control and de-control regimes based on total assets. (4) There was a significant difference between control and consolidation regimes based on total assets. (5) There was a significant difference between de-control and consolidation regimes based on total assets. (6) There was a significant difference between control and de-control regimes based on financial deepening. (7) There was a significant difference between control and consolidation regimes based on financial deepening. (8) There was no significant difference between de-control and consolidation regimes based on financial deepening. On the basis of the above- stated findings, some recommendations were made.
