Abstract
This paper discusses the London District Messenger Service that flourished during Holmes's time and which service he used. It follows from his use of it that certain equipment not previously identified was installed at 221b Baker Street. The paper also discusses the Post Office's Express Messenger Service, which service it seems Holmes also used.
