Abstract

Luigi Taparelli (1793-1862) turned his attention to economic theory and method towards the end of his career, dedicating several articles in the 'Civiltà Cattolica' journal to the subject in the late 1850's. As an eclectic social and political theorist, combining Thomistic and Aristotelean paradigms with modern empirical methods, Taparelli's contribution to Catholic social teaching has been egregiously under-studied.
