Abstract

Can we say that the same case law search from 20 years ago run today would yield 10 times or 100 times as many cases?

Someone asked me a similar question on Twitter, so I did a very limited investigation, comparing searches that were described in law review footnotes in 1995 and 1996 with comparable searches I constructed today. I didn't find a strong pattern in my limited sample, but I sketched out some thoughts for future research.

I post my notes here as an invitation to other researchers to delve further.
