Abstract
This article addresses criticisms in a previous issue of Legal Communication & Rhetoric: JALWD about three supposed “ideologies” of the worldwide plain-language movement. The criticisms are mainly based on sociolinguistic theory. The article explains why they do not hold up under any fair examination of what advocates actually say and do.
