Abstract

India is the only country that legally mandates corporations to spend 2% of their profit as part of CSR. The article examines whether CSR policy as it is implemented currently is effective in meeting its objectives. Considering the development context of India, the author proposes ‘targeted CSR’ as a method of focussing CSR funding in social welfare that requires prioritised attention in the country.
