Abstract
This paper describes the main features of immigration in the UK, and puts it in in perspective with the experience of other advanced economies. It then reviews the most recent available evidence on the labour market and fiscal effects of immigration in the UK. This evidence is assessed in relation to some of the claims that were made in the run up to the Brexit referendum.
