Abstract

This paper attempts to present an alternative indicator to evaluate the purchasing power parity (PPP) in any country. This new indicator is entitled "The Starbucksication Index." The word "Stabucksication" is originated from the successful Starbucks coffee firm that they are expanding globally and geometrically in the last fifteen years. This index can show the purchasing power parity (PPP) and income distribution in any city or country. The Stabucksication index is based on monitoring the number of Starbucks shops geographically, international trade (exports and imports), local customers preference changes in different periods of time, and its final impact on the generation of jobs directly and indirectly. Finally, We are evaluating 35 countries from five different continents under the application of the Starbucksication index. Finally, We found that this indicator can contribute in the evaluation of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), income distribution and the generation of jobs from an alternative methodological and technical approach.
