Abstract

In this paper, we use a panel of manufacturing firms in South Korea to investigate the influence of factors on the institutional and firm-level on the innovativeness of manufacturing firms. This research used the regional innovation system (R.I.S.) theory perspective to deepen the understanding of factors influencing firm’s innovativeness. A theoretical model was developed and tested using World Bank’s Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey (BEEPS) data. A total of 485 manufacturing firms were selected from South Korea business environment. The overall analysis shows that the firm-level factors are more strongly related to firm’s innovativeness than the institutional factors. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the data.
