Total Corporate Taxation: Hidden, Above-the-Line, Non-Income Taxes

Posted: 29 Nov 2001

Abstract

In this special report, Christensen, Cline, and Neubig write that there are many hidden taxes on corporations, particularly state and local taxes. The large hidden corporate taxes are almost three times as large as the more visible corporate income tax, they say. The authors include taxes that corporations collect and remit to governments as hidden taxes.

Non-income business taxes are costs of doing business and should be minimized, the authors suggest.
